Write to you MP - Ask them to support the Children (Access to Parents) Bill

The second reading of the Children (Access to Parents) Bill is scheduled for the 20th Jan.

DadTalk would like dads to write to their local MP and ask them to support the bill.  To help you show your support for this legislation we have drafted a basic letter for you to complete and have included a link which will enable you to find your MP and email your letter to them.

The more parents we can get involved - the better the chance of making a change that could profoundly enrich a childs life.

Here is a suggested basic letter format:

Dear [Local MP Name]

As a father and a member of your constituency I am writing to urge you to support and debate the second reading of the Children (Access to Parents) Bill scheduled for the 20th Jan, presented by Charlie Elphicke, MP for Dover.

I believe that a child’s welfare is best served by a relationship with both parents and that we should enshrine equal access right for mums and dads in law.

[My own story and view of why dads matters to children]

As my elected representative please support any improvement to our system, whether legislative or non-legislative, that give children the best chance of growing up under the guidance of two loving parents and recognise the valuable and distinct role of both parents in a childs life.

Yours sincerely

See its simple. All you need is your postcode, click on this link, Click on your MP's name and complete the required fields and you will have sent your letter.

Come on Dads, let stand up and be counted.
