Where On Earth Are You From?

Adlai doesn’t realise it yet, but he is a fortunate little fella…in lots of ways.  Adlai is as much cowboy as he is English gent, as much hot dog as cottage pie.  He holds a passport for the USA as well as the UK, which is quite the privilege.  Not that he seems to appreciate it yet, but he will.

Too cold to snow

You know you’re getting old when you say stuff like ‘It’s too cold to snow’ and ‘if the wind changes your face will stay like that’. Now I’m no meteorologist and I’m pretty sure both of the previous statements are based on big fat lies, but lately I’ve found these weather-based phrases slipping from my lips.

i-Kid

My daughter Meri was playing her counting game on the i-Pad the other day but was getting confused. She was sitting straight-legged on the floor and placed the i-Pad on her legs. Because her thighs are fatter than her ankles, the i-Pad was at an angle slanting down away from her. The i-Pad sensed this and it flipped the screen display around so that from Meri’s point of view everything was upside down.  She picked it up, turned it around so that it was the right way up and put it back down on her legs. Of course, the screen flipped around again and so the comedy continued.

Winter Wonderland

You may have noticed that it snowed last weekend. There was enormous excitement in my household. Actually, that’s an overstatement. My wife was less than impressed , she had a work trip to Strasbourg  the following day and was worried about getting stuck on the Eurostar. The kids were non-plussed because they are too small to understand what snow is really about. OK, I admit it - it was me - I was excited - more excited than a Frenchman on a garlic farm.
