Parents 'no longer inspired to do their best’

British people have fallen “out of love” with the job of being parents because there are not enough good role models, the Government’s child poverty adviser has said.

Frank Field, a Labour MP who advises David Cameron, said there was evidence that children are becoming less well prepared for primary school because of an increase in poor parenting.
