What's your approach, and why?

If you deceibe them into believing that FC is real then why should they believe you about anything else? Kids can enjoy FC as a 'pretend' game.

I hate lying, I really enjoy pretending and having fun with my kids - so try and get a balance...

Although that balance invovles, asking my daugther to not tell her friends at school that FC is no real..

It's not the children I'm worried about ...

Yes - it is a good idea if they don't tell their friends that FC is fake. I had a friend who got into real trouble with a lot of other parents when his daughter started putting all her friends right about FC.

Of course Father Christmas is real. You can't go anywhere at Christmas time without seeing him! So there's no need to lie about his reality, just be honest about his story. (And that includes Cocacola being responsible for his red suit!)

I have always played Father Christmas as a game with my kids, who know he's someone dressed up, but we still pretend he's the magical person he's supposed to be - and that imncludes pretending to believe when talking to their freinds.

Oh, and I still have to deliver presents to their stockings when they are asleep (and sometimes I dress up too) even though they have 'grown up'.
