Parents Blamed In Poll For Yob Crisis.

MOST people believe that parents are losing the battle when it comes to their children’s behaviour.

Three-quarters of us think parents have lost control and the way we bring up our kids has deteriorated over the last decade, according to a BBC survey.

The poll, for Radio 4, is a damning indictment of Britain’s yob culture.

Sixty-five per cent blame Britain’s teenage gang culture on poor parenting, and more than 80 per cent say parents should be held responsible for their children’s bad behaviour.

The phone poll of more than 1,000 people was commissioned for the Radio 4’s Bringing Up Britain.

In the first broadcast, today at 8pm, presenter Mariella Frostrup is joined by a panel of experts who will discuss whether parents fear official repercussions if they discipline their children, or whether youngsters are simply too strong.

The programme also questions whether children have too many rights and what steps parents can take to control bad behaviour.
