Annual Inspirational Kids Awards 2011

kids_count_awardsHave you ever heard of Sebastian? Well he was the winner of last year’s Most Inspirational Young Person award.

Although his story starts with the theft of a boat from Weymouth Harbour and the need for a full scale air-sea rescue Sebastian went on to publically apologise to all who had been involved or affected by his actions. He then set his mind to raise over £25,000 for the groups that had been involved in his rescue by walking around the coastline of Britain. By the time he got home Sebastian had not only raised awareness of sea safety but £30,000 and more importantly the fact that young people who have committed an offence can make amends and benefit their community in a positive way.

The Kids Count Inspiration Awards wish to recognise those individuals and organisations that have, quite literally, inspired young people in their communities, by addressing issues that affect their lives and creating initiatives that are grounded in practicality and make a positive difference, whilst giving a voice to young people to determine and influence their own futures. However they need us to nominate worthy candidates.

It couldn't be easier to nominate a candidate however. All you have to do is select from the six categories of awards and complete the nomination form and e-mail it back to us. There will also be two special awards nominated by Kids Count. You better hurry up though as the closing date for nominations is Thursday 24th March 2011.

The Kids Count Inspiration Awards are designed to recognise the efforts of young people, organisations and community groups; therefore there is no age limit for nominations.

Nominations are called for the following awards:

  • Most inspirational young person
  • Best contribution to youth issues
  • Best contribution by a community group
  • Best mentor
  • Best creative contribution
  • Inspired award (fund of up to £1,000 available for winners of this award.)

Nomination forms can be found on the Kids Count website
