First cinema trip

Our eldest, Abi, is soon to be four years old. This is the first birthday that she has been aware of and we have been counting sleeps since just after Christmas.
She has been invited to a number of kids birthday parties and the very thought of putting on one of these in my home gave me palpitations. Seriously, I’d rather be forced to watch a whole season of One Tree Hill in a room full of hungry leeches than have a dozen four year olds hyped up on sugar charge around my house.
So the wife and I decided we would offer Abi a treat or a party. It is possible that when making this offer I forget to mention the party option, but let’s not get caught up with semantics.
So Abi decided she wanted to go to the cinema. Score.
Vix and Abi went for a burger and the latest Disney 3D snooze fest of a kid’s film.
Honestly I was not expecting Abi to cope very well with the cinema experience. I didn’t know if she would cope very well with the cinema experience. These things can be loud and even I struggle when I get stuck with a long film. My memories of sitting watching A.I. are not good ones. However, Abi came back from the cinema completely pumped. She followed the plot, understood who the baddies were and didn’t worry too much about the darker moments. Vix was able to reassure her that Disney films always have happy endings which are a true reflection of what real life is like.
The only slight hiccup involved the sensation caused by 3D. A number of times Abi jumped up and tried to hug one of the characters only to discover they weren’t really there!
Anyway, this new step in my eldest daughter’s development is exciting because I love watching films at the cinema and I can now look forward to sharing this with my daughter. Unfortunately I am not sure how long it will take for her to develop my passion for disaster movies and Sci-Fi.
I am also unsure how may Bratz films I can watch without making an attempt on my own life. The next few years will be interesting/horrifying.
