The Sleepover!

So last week was all about being home alone as the Mrs and the boys were at Nanas and Granddads for the week. You may recall that I was preparing myself for a sense of inner solitude that comes from doing life without my companion and kids. After the blog went up on the Monday I got texts from several friends asking how I was doing and offering meals and company but the best text arrived Wednesday night at 5.45pm; My mate Tabs was offering to come hang out and stay over! Thus began the 40year olds sleepover......!!

I know what you’re thinking, it all sounds a little sad and immature, two 40ish year old men having a sleep over. Were there PJ’s and midnight snacks, did we stay up to the wee late hours chatting, about who we fancied and the latest Marvel comic hero? Surly as 40 year old professional family men we went to the pub put the worlds to rights and then went our separate ways as is the custom at our age.

I’m not ashamed to admit we did indeed camp out in the same room, talked about stuff I haven’t talked about since I was a teenager and eventually fell asleep at 5am. It was brilliant and totally changed the focus of my week. I started the week assuming my highlight would be emptying the dishwasher once during the course of the week but instead this leap back to youth lifted my week and has given me something to smile about.

My conclusion is that sometimes staying up late on a work night and hanging out with ya bestie is very therapeutic! Tabs I think our next sleepover may have to involve Nerf guns!!
